The Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, held a welcoming event for new students as part of the Learning Socialization (Sosialisasi Pembelajaran/Sospem) Program for New Students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The event was held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Faculty of Science and Technology.

The event was attended by all lecturers of the Mathematics Study Program and all newly admitted Mathematics students. This welcoming event served as an important opportunity to introduce the new students to the academic environment, faculty members, and various aspects of the learning process within the Mathematics Study Program.

During the event, all Mathematics lecturers introduced themselves to the new students. Each lecturer shared their academic background, area of expertise in mathematics, and the courses they teach. This session was expected to help new students become more familiar with the lecturers while also providing them with an overview of the various fields of mathematics they will encounter throughout their studies.

The main session on the study program was delivered by the Head of the Mathematics Study Program, Dr. Epha Diana Supandi, M.Sc., together with the Secretary of the Mathematics Study Program, Arif Munandar, M.Sc. The session provided important information about the Mathematics Study Program, the academic learning system, and various aspects that students need to understand as they begin their university education.

One of the key topics discussed was the 2024 Curriculum of the Mathematics Study Program. The introduction to the curriculum was an important part of the event, providing students with an understanding of the structure and stages of learning they will undertake throughout their university studies. By gaining an early understanding of the curriculum, students are expected to be able to plan their academic journey more effectively, including selecting courses and setting appropriate study targets.

In addition to academic information, the event also featured messages of motivation and encouragement for all new students. They were encouraged to participate actively in the learning process, develop good communication with lecturers and fellow students, and continuously strive to improve themselves both academically and personally.

The Head and Secretary of the Study Program also expressed their warm welcome to all new students and congratulated them on becoming part of the Mathematics Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The students were encouraged to adapt quickly to the university environment and make the most of their time at the university to develop their knowledge, skills, character, and potential.

At the end of the session, the students were encouraged to pursue their studies with commitment, responsibility, perseverance, and enthusiasm. Prayers and best wishes were also expressed for all new students so that they would be granted ease and success throughout their studies, complete their education on time with excellent academic achievements, and eventually become competent graduates who can make meaningful contributions to society.

The welcoming event is expected to serve as a positive starting point for new students in getting to know the Mathematics Study Program, its lecturers, and its academic environment more closely. With the support and guidance of the entire academic community, the new students are expected to begin their university journey with optimism, enthusiasm, hard work, and determination to achieve their goals.
