The Mathematics Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, organized a Studium Generale(general lecture) themed "Mathematical Optimization: Methods and Applications." The event took place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 08:00 to 12:00 WIB, in a hybrid format—conducted via Zoom and hosted at the FST Theater Hall at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

The *Studium Generale* featured two academic speakers: Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Suladi Firdaus Sufahani, a lecturer from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wakhid Musthofa, S.Si., M.Si., a lecturer from the Mathematics Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The session was moderated by Noor Saif Muhammad Mussaifi, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer from the Mathematics Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

The theme "Mathematical Optimization: Methods and Applications" was selected to provide participants with insights into the evolution of mathematical optimization methods and their applications across various problems. Mathematical optimization is a crucial field within applied mathematics, focusing on determining the optimal solution to a problem by considering an objective function and a set of given constraints.

The participation of Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Suladi Firdaus Sufahani from UTHM (joining online) offered academic perspectives and research experiences from an international university setting. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wakhid Musthofa contributed scholarly insights from the field of mathematics, specifically regarding the development and application of mathematical methods.

Through this event, students and the academic community are expected to gain a broader understanding of the concepts, methods, and applications of mathematical optimization. The *Studium Generale* also served as a platform to integrate academic perspectives, research, and mathematical applications in solving various real-world problems. The hybrid format allows students and participants from various locations to attend the event either online or in person. This initiative supports the Mathematics Study Program at FST UIN Sunan Kalijaga in expanding its academic network and providing learning activities that remain relevant to advancements in the field of mathematics.

The *Studium Generale* titled "Mathematical Optimization: Methods and Applications" aims to broaden students' perspectives, foster interest in mathematical optimization, and open up opportunities for academic and research collaboration between the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Mathematics Study Program and other universities, both domestically and internationally.
