Mathematics Study Program Holds Algebra Joint Seminar
The Mathematics Study Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS) DIY–Central Java Chapter and the Algebra Interest Community (Komunitas Peminat Aljabar/KPA) Central Region, successfully organized an **Algebra Joint Seminar (AJS)** on Monday, May 25, 2026. The seminar was conducted online via Zoom Meeting from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (WIB) and was open to lecturers, students, teachers, practitioners, and the general public.
The event commenced with opening remarks delivered by the Head of the Mathematics Study Program, FST UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, **Dr. Epha Diana Supandi, M.Sc.** In her speech, she expressed her appreciation for the collaborative effort behind the seminar and highlighted the importance of academic forums in fostering scholarly discussions and strengthening research networks in mathematics, particularly in algebra.
The second welcoming address was delivered by Any Muanalifah, Ph.D., a lecturer at UIN Walisongo Semarang and the Chair of the Komunitas Peminat Aljabar (KPA)/Indonesian Algebra Society Central Region. She emphasized the significance of academic seminars such as the Algebra Joint Seminar in promoting research collaboration and facilitating the exchange of ideas among academics, researchers, and students who share an interest in algebra and its applications.
The seminar featured Arif Munandar, S.Si., M.Sc., a lecturer in the Mathematics Study Program at FST UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, as the keynote speaker. He presented a talk entitled “Structure of Cayley Graph over Non-Abelian Group U_6n.” During his presentation, he discussed the structural properties of Cayley graphs constructed over the non-abelian group U_6n, highlighting their characteristics and their connections to group theory and graph theory.
The topic attracted considerable interest from participants due to its relevance to both abstract algebra and graph theory, two important areas in contemporary mathematical research. The seminar was followed by an engaging discussion session, during which participants from various universities and educational institutions actively raised questions and shared their perspectives.
The discussion was moderated by M. Zaki Riyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., a lecturer in the Mathematics Study Program at FST UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Through his effective moderation, the seminar maintained an interactive atmosphere and provided participants with valuable opportunities to deepen their understanding of the subject matter.
Through this Algebra Joint Seminar, the Mathematics Study Program of FST UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, together with IndoMS DIY–Central Java Chapter and KPA Central Region, reaffirmed their commitment to providing high-quality academic forums that support the advancement of mathematical sciences, encourage research collaboration, and strengthen the academic culture among lecturers, researchers, students, and the broader community.
The event represents a continuing effort to cultivate a dynamic, collaborative, and sustainable mathematical research community in Indonesia.
