Yogyakarta, July 29, 2025 – Two lecturers from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Arif Munandar, M.Sc. and Deddy Rahmadi, M.Sc., actively participated as presenters at the prestigious 8th Biennial International Group Theory Conference (BIGTC) held on July 26–29, 2025, at the 7th Floor Auditorium, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Yogyakarta.

This biennial international conference gathered experts, researchers, and academics in group theory from around the world. The event featured plenary sessions, in-depth discussions, and concluded with reflections and proposals for advancing future research directions in group theory.

The participation of UIN Sunan Kalijaga mathematics lecturers in this international forum reflects the department’s strong commitment to advancing globally competitive research while also expanding international academic networks. Through their presentations, Arif Munandar, M.Sc. and Deddy Rahmadi, M.Sc. not only showcased their research findings but also engaged in meaningful discussions with international scholars.

In the closing remarks, Chair of the Conference, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Yeni Susanti, S.Si., M.Si., expressed her gratitude to the organizing committee and participants for the successful implementation of the 8th BIGTC. The conference also announced that the 9th BIGTC will be hosted by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India, in 2027.

The involvement of UIN Sunan Kalijaga lecturers in BIGTC is expected to further strengthen the Department of Mathematics’ contribution to international research and to inspire students to pursue excellence in group theory and pure mathematics.
