ACADEMIC VISIT OF THE MATHEMATICS STUDY PROGRAM, UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA, TO THE STATISTICS DEPARTMENT, DIPONEGORO UNIVERSITY, SEMARANG
As part of its efforts to strengthen academic collaboration and improve the quality of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi), the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, conducted an academic visit to the Statistics Department, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University, Semarang, on Monday, July 14, 2025.
This activity aimed to foster collaboration between institutions, particularly in the areas of curriculum development, collaborative research, and strengthening academic culture within the study program. The UIN Sunan Kalijaga delegation, led by the Head of the Study Program, Dr. Epha Diana Supandi, M.Sc., was warmly received by the leadership, Prof. Dr. Tarno, M.Si. (Head of the Statistics Department) and Dr. Di Asih I Maruddani, S.Si., M.Si. (Secretary of the Statistics Department), and lecturers from the UNDIP Statistics Department.
In the discussion session, both parties exchanged insights on strategies for implementing the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) program, data-based and research-based learning approaches, and opportunities for collaborative research and joint scientific publications.
One of the key agenda items in this activity was an in-depth discussion on scientific journal management, covering managerial aspects, editorial systems, peer review processes, and indexing of national and international journals. The UNDIP Statistics Department, with its experience in managing SINTA-accredited journals, served as a strategic discussion partner for the Mathematics Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga in its efforts to improve quality and competitiveness.
Dr. Di Asih I Maruddani, S.Si., M.Si., discussed scientific journal management as a crucial part of academic development and enhancing the institution's reputation. At the UNDIP Statistics Department, journal management is carried out professionally, publishing two nationally accredited journals: Media Statistika (SINTA 2/ https://sinta.kemdikbud.go.id/journals/profile/1963) and Gaussian (SINTA 3/ https://sinta.kemdikbud.go.id/journals/profile/8421). Meanwhile, the Mathematics Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga is currently undergoing the reaccreditation process for the Fourier journal (https://sinta.kemdikbud.go.id/journals/google/2191) as an effort to continuously improve scientific quality and recognition at the national level.
This activity is expected to foster closer synergy between universities in building an academic atmosphere that is inclusive, innovative, and responsive to the challenges of the times. This visit also represents a concrete step for the Mathematics Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga in opening a broader academic network, both nationally and internationally.
