Curriculum S1 MATEMATIKA 2020
Credit 3
Course Type elective
Description In this Introduction to Number Theory course, various basic concepts in integers are studied, namely the concept of divisibility of integers, greatest common factor, Euclide's algorithm, prime numbers and congruence. These concepts explain the properties of integers, factorization to prime numbers, classification of integers based on modulo equivalence relations, Wilson's Theorem and Fermat's Little Theorem and the Phi-Euler Function. Number theory plays an important role in studies in algebra, especially in abstract algebra (groups and rings) and its applications in everyday life, such as dating, cryptography, ISBN codes and so on.
