ASIIN Accreditation and Transformation of Mathematics Study Program: Towards a Global Standard Mathematics Study Program
UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta officially opened the On-Site Visit (OSV) by ASIIN, an international accreditation institution from Germany, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. The event, which took place on the second floor of the PAU office, was the first step in the international accreditation process for Cluster B (Mathematics and Physics) on February 19-20, 2025 and Cluster A (Biology and Chemistry) on February 26-27, 2025.
The opening of the OSV was attended by the university's leadership, including Prof. Dr. Kamsi (Senate Chair), Prof. Dr. Maragustam (Senate Secretary), Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, Ph.D (Rector), as well as vice-rectors and faculty leaders. From the assessors, Dr. Natalia Vega (ASIIN Project Manager), Prof. Dr. Arno Schindlmayr (Universität Paderborn), Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Weigand (Universität Würzburg), Prof. Setia Permana (STIS), and Dr. M. Taufiqi (ITS).
In his opening remarks, the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, emphasized that ASIIN accreditation is part of the university's strategy to increase global competitiveness. "This accreditation is not only a recognition of our academic quality, but also a guarantee that UIN Sunan Kalijaga graduates are ready to compete at the international level," he said.
Furthermore, the rector emphasized that this international accreditation process is part of the academic transformation of UIN Sunan Kalijaga which has developed from IAIN to UIN. This transformation not only broadens the scope of knowledge by integrating Islamic studies and modern science, but also strengthens the university's position in the global higher education arena. This effort is reflected in improving the quality of the curriculum, modernizing academic infrastructure, and strengthening international cooperation networks.
On the same occasion, the rector also explained the latest developments related to the construction of Campus II UIN Sunan Kalijaga in Pajangan, Bantul. This project is expected to support a more advanced academic ecosystem and expand educational facilities for students.
With the commencement of OSV ASIIN, UIN Sunan Kalijaga is optimistic that it can achieve international accreditation which will further strengthen its reputation as a global standard Islamic educational institution and strengthen its role in the transformation of higher education in Indonesia.
